Primary responsibilities included, conduct network monitoring and intrusion detection analysis using various Computer Network Defense (CND) tools, such as Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Firewalls, Host Based Security System (HBSS), etc. Correlate network activity across unclassified and classified networks to identify trends of unauthorized use; research emerging threats and vulnerabilities to aid in the identification of network incidents. Provide network subscribers with incident response support, including mitigating actions to contain the activity and forensics analysis when necessary. Support Senior Security Analysts in the deployment and implementation of CND tools. Collaborate with counterpart CND organizations on possible threats and to exchange analysis or other information on suspicious activity. Perform vulnerability scans using the DoD recognized tool to validate Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) compliance at network subscriber sites. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: supporting and developing network monitoring tools to prevent corruption of Information Systems.; reviewing logs from various security tools and network traffic analyzers.
