Robert founded Jericho Chambers as a radical alternative to tired and failing consultancy models on Public Engagement. Since 2014, working with influencer communities and those with lived experience across business, government and civil society, Jericho has developed fresh policy thinking on a wide range of challenging societal issues – from Responsible Tax to Housing; Good Work to Transport and Infrastructure; Adult Social Care to Social Justice in Tech. A commitment to the Common Good lies at the heart of all Jericho projects.In Spring 2020, Robert launched the inaugural Jericho Conversations – trying to figure out what it will take to Build Back Better, post-COVID, in a meaningful and practical way. This led to the emergence of three new Jericho programmes: Our Future Voice Now – looking at a Better Society through the lens of 16-24 year olds; Public Health: In The Right Place? – an enquiry into patient-centric healthcare; and the Healthy Work Project - a collaboration with Margaret Heffernan and Prof. Veronica Hope Hailey.Robert launched Jericho after a 25-year career at the top of the global communications industry. He co-founded legendary consumer brands agency Jackie Cooper PR (1987) and, having sold the business, went on to become the UK and then EMEA Chief Executive of Edelman, the world’s largest Public Relations firm, and Chair of its Public Engagement & Future Strategies group (2007-2012). Robert quit Edelman, and the world of PR, at the end of 2012, declaring “it was time to call bullshit on the bullshit industry of spin”.Robert is the author, with Jules Peck, of Citizen Renaissance (2008) and Trust Me, PR is Dead (2015) and is working on The Trust Delusion (and How to Avoid It), scheduled for 2021/2. He recently stepped down as Visiting Professor at Cass Business School, University of London.
