As the Executive Director of Hui O Kahawai I Ka Po'o Po'o and leader of Project Hōʻaumakua Māiki, I aim to champion regenerative land management and lifestyle practices rooted in Native Hawaiian agricultural and food traditions. Project Hōʻaumakua Māiki is dedicated to fostering a regenerative, disease-free lifestyle through community education, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation. Our mission emphasizes the cultivation of indigenous and beneficial microorganisms and the traditional preparation of hand-pounded poi, promoting principles of stewardship, reciprocity and well-being now and for generations to come.I am passionate about plant-based health and wellness and have actively contributed to community initiatives supporting affordable housing, safer communities, permaculture, natural farming, farmers' rights, equine rescue, and firefighters' support. As a member and/or supporter of Hawaiʻi Farmers Union United since 2017, I assert that a multitude of smallholder diversified farms that implement regenerative techniques in growing and raising our food will create a resilient, vital and productive agricultural system to better feed Hawai‘i’s people. Driven by a love for volunteer work, I am dedicated to uplifting causes that are virtuous, inspiring, and contribute positively to the community.My decades of service in community, education, agriculture, and holistic practices reflect a deep commitment to enriching Hawaii through meaningful involvement in diverse organizations, grounded in reverence for spiritual health and the pursuit of personal and collective ascension. From grassroots initiatives like Permablitz Hawaii, focused on restoring food security one backyard at a time, to advocating for traditional Hawaiian values that honor access to safe, healthy local foods, my work centers on empowerment and spiritual connection. My dedication to youth leadership is exemplified in roles such as a Varsity Scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America, a coach with the Police Athletics League, and high school Seminary Teacher, where I inspired young minds in responsibility, teamwork, physical health, citizenship, and spiritual enrichment. Additionally, my work with Equine 808 Horse Rescue and the Hawaii High School Rodeo Association underscores a compassionate commitment to animal welfare. Each role and organization reflects a rich history of varied interests and a dedication to cultural preservation, youth development, and community well-being, where reverence for character development is at the core of my efforts to make a lasting impact.
