Education Manager
CurrentEssential Job Functions Include: Manage instruction of informal environmental science (with a focus on oceans and watersheds) to pre-K through college level students Supervise a team of Aquarium Associates, provide regular feedback on their performance and expectations, and oversee their weekly schedule to ensure all field trip classes meet highest educational standards Coordinate with teachers to select and schedule Field Trip Programs and oversee booking and payment or grant funds for all field trips, and manage program budgets Coordinate and manage Heal the Bay Aquarium Camp programs, including curriculum development, marketing, and hiring and training interns Coordinate and manage LA STEM Collective Enrichment programs, including budget development and staffing Collaborate with education team to develop, evaluate and refine curricula/activities including pre- and post-visit materialCoordinate with and support Heal the Bay Outreach, Heal Bay Aquarium, Education Team, and Partner Organizations to grow the programs capacity and impact on the community Purchase and maintain educational supplies and materials, and keep education classroom, storage, and office areas clean and organized Work with Volunteer Programs Manager to recruit, train, and oversee education and summer camp interns and volunteers Attend meetings, keep up with emails, respond to messages, and submit all necessary reports thoroughly and on time Create a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for all students that participate in Heal the Bay’s programs through interpersonal skills Contribute positively to the Aquarium Departments leadership team and oversee facility operations as the regularly scheduled Manager on Duty (MOD) Maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification for adults and children, and attend all development and safety training as necessary Additional duties upon request based on the needs of organization and department Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
