I maintain an international profile as a scholar and performer, with a range of publications, award-winning recordings and twenty years experience presenting his research around the world in conferences, radio broadcasts, concerts, newspaper and magazine interviews and other media. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a PhD from Royal Holloway, University of London. I am a former Leverhulme Research Fellow and tutor at Cambridge and was the 2020 Albi Rosenthal Visiting Research Fellow in Music at Oxford. My research specialisations include Czech and Austrian music and seventeenth and eighteenth-century music in the British Isles, about which I have published widely in books, chapters and articles with leading journals and publishers. With my period-instrument group, The Harmonious Society of Tickle-Fiddle Gentlemen, I have performed at concerts and major festivals across Europe and released five critically-acclaimed CDs, whose awards include the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik (Opera, 2016), among others. PS. I am also a passionate fan of the British rock group XTC.
