Since year 9, when I pencilled in the boxes on the cards that got fed into the mainframe and magically created code, I have been passionate about technology.Over my 40 years in business I have been involved in many “start-ups”. Some highlights were the creation of the stock forms business including cheque, payroll, invoice/statement forms that work with packages including MYOB, Quicken and Attache. With the growth of these packages in the 1990’s/2000’s, Forms Express had over 20,000 active customers throughout Australia and New Zealand. Product and business model innovation made this all possible.The entry into the billing market was another example. Initially the service included producing the physical “bill”, but now the focus is on the electronic bill and payment that is set to change the way bills are delivered and paid. Forms Express has grown to a business providing a billing service to over 250 Local Government, Water and Utility customers that send bills with a face value of over $15 Billion.FE Technologies (FET) installed its first library RFID system at Geelong Grammar in 2007. FET has since installed over 600 library systems in libraries throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Asia and has set up FE Technologies Asia Pacific to continue its expansion. Recently distributorships have been signed in both Hong Kong and Japan.RFID TECH has been set to commercialise a unique printed RFID Tag and Reader and has been developed in partnership with Monash University.The latest "startup" is HealthRFID, which is helping hospitals, blood banks, and clinical trial organisations, to track biologicals and use the data to better manage their operations, We have the privilege of using technology to help change people’s lives.
