Following 6 years with Ralph Lauren, during which I earned multiple promotions, I stepped into the Director of North America Retail Transportation in 2011 to oversee the complete lifecycle of transport requirements from inbound port of entry, through all phases of transload, scheduling (inbound and outbound to distribution center and pool distributor), and store delivery.My team of 20+ employees across 4 DC campuses managed transportation for multiple businesses with varying margin and cost implications with a total of $25 million in spend. We were successful in streamlining the flow from distribution center to store, and I am particularly proud of my contributions in improving truck utilization 20%, creating store-level dashboards, and strategically replacing a struggling final-mile delivery carrier.

Achievements include sourcing high-performing team members, increasing intermodal usage to reduce costs and carbon footprint, and partnering with loss prevention and inventory control teams to minimize claims liability while improving store delivery.

Over the next few years, I progressed to a team lead role, and then to an operations manager role with responsibility for planning and directing storage and distribution operations. It was here that I gained experience across the end-to-end flow process, resulting in the ability to adjust operations to optimize service. Notably, I transformed the company’s last-ranked distribution center for dispatch and on-time delivery with 20% overtime into a Top 5 DC with improved customer feedback and employee morale. Scope of responsibility included Inbound Shipment Receipt & Control, FDA Control and Management, including Controlled Substances, and Outbound Shipment Preparation & Dispatch.While I am proud of my contributions to Cardinal Health, I am equally proud that I was able to earn my degree during my tenure. I maintained a full course load while working full-time, earning a promotion to supervisor during my final year. I learned early on in my career the power of commitment, and I’m not intimidated by “impossible” challenges or long hours.
