Robert has been revitalizing communities, supporting housing and economic development, and helping to generate public tax revenue for more than three decades. From 2012 through 2019, he led the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (www.ura.org), a 95-employee organization with an annual capital budget of $125-150 million, and an administrative budget of $11 million. The Authority is the implementation arm of the City of Pittsburgh for all Housing and Economic Development activities.Under Robert’s leadership, the Authority made tremendous progress toward equitable development, removing barriers to low-income residents, entrepreneurs, business owners and communities, enabling growth opportunities for all. As Executive Director, and Director of Economic Development, Robert worked directly on projects and initiatives for which the organization won numerous awards and recognition, ranging from mixed-use financing, public-private partnerships and placemaking, to neighborhood initiatives, entrepreneurial support and equitable development.Robert is a nationally- and internationally-recognized expert in Economic Development. He has been a speaker at more than one hundred engagements, including national and international benchmarking tours, conferences, seminars and classrooms.
