Electrical engineering design of Hydraulic Power control and Automation systems which involves work from concept to completion including physical layout and schematic drawings (AutoCAD Electric), BOM's, programming, testing and inspection. Hardware included devices by Eaton, Phoenix Contact, Omron, ABB, Unitronics and ProFace.

Primary responsibilities include engineering oversight of the sales department involving both the technical specification and recommendation of automation and control equipment for four divisions of the business network. Other duties include customer support in the areas of startup, troubleshooting and training assistance for the complete range of products offered in I/O's distribution line. This involves equipment from vendors such as: SquareD / Telemecanique /Modicon; Mitsubishi; GE; IDEC; KEP; Gavazzi; Crouzet and others. The type of equipment involves: PLC's; VFD's; servos; OIT's; data acquisition packages; power supplies; transformers; contactors / relays; terminal blocks and associated industrial control items. I/O's facility included a Technical Training Room to facilitate customer training sessions to help build confidence and skill needed to complete projects successfully. I facilitated on site for customer training, focused on specific applications. I also regularly conducted in-house training to familiarize staff with the technical aspects of our product lines.

With strong emphasis on motion, duties at TECO included the engineering and specification of Stepper and Servo Systems, Linear Motion, and Variable Speed Drive Systems. Controls work included Sensing Technology with Networked I/O, Interface, Control and Safety Components along with the design of Structural Guarding. Product lines included Mitsubishi, Banner, Turck, Moeller, Baldor, Boston Gear, and 80/20 Framing systems.

Duties for this position included the complete electrical design oversight of Hull's O.E.M. line of support equipment for the plastics industry. Their line includes presses, deflashers, vacuum impregnators and potters along with related handling and automation equipment. Responsibilities also included the selection and specification of electrical equipment, PLC and HMI programming, and related mounting and panel layouts. Computer applications used include packages for PLC programming and peripheral device support for units manufactured by Allen-Bradley, IDEC and Siemens. AutoCAD and Microsoft Word and Excel were used for project documentation.

This position involved project leadership including specification, design, fabrication, programming, and documentation of production and test equipment. This work also included the associated operation and maintenance support documentation and operator training. Design and drawing were accomplished using AutoCAD. Other support documents and reporting were done using Microsoft Office. Projects required familiarity with PC's, single-board computers and PLC's in systems dealing with the automation, data acquisition and control of temperature, pressure, and motion along with HMI / OIT peripherals. Duties also included working with Quality Assurance entailing the study of manufacturing processes with a focus on improvement through machine upgrade, operator training and implementation of the discipline of Statistical Process Control. During this time, I had the opportunity to travel to customer sites, including Ford, Kodak and GM, for customer-related quality issues. Assignments have also included travel to Stabilus' plants in Mexico and North Carolina along with visits to customers' sites. I also received a Special appointment as Project Leader for the introduction of a new technology process for the Ford World-Cars (Contour & Mystique) involving travel to Stabilus-Germany, reporting directly to the President of Stabilus-US and interfacing with all departments to coordinate a new product startup.
