Responsible for management of infrastructure and maintenance Projects

Currently working on the rehabilitation of the Nkaya-Mchinji railway in Malawi. The railway runs from Balaka district in the eastern region to Mchinji District in the central region about 380km. On this project I am responsible for management and execution of the civil works. I am directly responsible for managing a works force of about 60 persons and 20 units of heavy earth moving equipment. Other responsibilities include;>Preparation of weekly and monthly progress report to senior management and client.>Preparation of plan of works.>Preparation of material and equipment requirements of the civil construction works.>Taking off and preparation of bills of quantities for new works.>Preparation of measurements for works done.>Preparation and review of method statements for civil and railway works> Conducting trainings for foremen and team leader to impart new procedures/skills>Setting of major drainage structures and conducting design reviews

Upgrading of Bilira Via Khwisa Road To Asphalt Surface 23.5km. Was responsible for site planning and management of construction team. my other responsibilities included;>Measurement and preparation of contractor's payment claims>Reviewing design of road and drainage structures to suit site conditions>Preparation of works program and progress report >Maintaining correspondence's with project managers' team and key stakeholder's on project matters>Ordering of materials required on site for construction works>Chairing disciplinary committee

Involved in reconstruction of Blantyre Zomba Road (M3) to class 1 bitumen standard. I am responsible for planning and supervision of roads works and drainage structures in my section. Furthermore I am responsible for managing subcontractors and leasing with relevant stake holders on various project issues.

Mota-Engil Minerals & Mining (Kayerekera Uranium Mine Project;)Involved in Open cast mine operations and preparation of short term and mid-term mine production plans according to Client Life of mine plans. Responsible for planning and execution of earth works, drainage, blasting operations and haul road construction. Also responsible for preparation of project progress reports, contractor’s payment claims (certificates), identifying, promoting and implementing Occupation Safety and Health Standards on behalf of the Contractor. Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construções SA (Karonga Runway Extension; Was involved in the upgrade/rehabilitation works for Karonga International Airport the works involved embankment formation, runway surfacing and drainage works. My responsibilities included supervision of the surfacing, drainage, concrete works and assisting the site agent with general site management. Involved in surfacing 400 meter run way extension with double chip seal the project also included the construction, maintenance and repair of drainage structures. The constant monitoring of the project work and also ongoing cost control. Measuring quantity of work done by contractor for payment certificate.Prior planning and the identification of critical materials and equipment required for the project construction. Was involved in a project to supervise construction and quality control of a Peri-Urban Water Supply Scheme. The scope of the works included installation of 14 km pipe line, drilling of two high yielding boreholes, set up of pumping mains and treatment facility. Was responsible for quality, cost and overall project management on behalf of the Client.
