Robert M. Schiffman is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Fixed Income department within the Investment Banking division, based in New York. He trades investment grade/crossover cash and derivatives in the TMT space. Prior to his move to the trading desk in 2017, he was the Head of Investment Grade Research in the U.S. for 15 years - with responsibility for High Grade/Crossover Telecommunications, Media and Technology coverage. His work focused on the analysis of (1) local, long-distance and wireless telephone markets (2) cable, media and broadcasting credits and (3) the broad technology universe. He was the Global Coordinator for the Bank's investment grade Telecom, Media & Entertainment sectors and was the lead author of The Global Phone Book and The Global Media & Entertainment Guide. Mr. Schiffman consistently ranked on the Institutional Investor All-American Fixed Income Research Team since 1997. For 4 consecutive years he was named the #1 Investment Grade Telecommunications analyst, in addition to being voted as one of the top Media & Entertainment analysts. Mr. Schiffman joined Credit Suisse First Boston in November 2000 when the firm merged with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he had worked since 1994. Before joining CSFB, Mr. Schiffman was a Senior Consultant for two years in the litigation analysis group at Ernst & Young where his work focused on damage claims analysis and preparing expert witnesses for trial testimony. In addition, he worked in the asset management group of Kidder Peabody. Mr. Schiffman has served as a member of the Board of Directors of FIASI (the Fixed Income Analysts Society), a professional society dedicated to the education of its membership and the fixed income community at large. Mr. Schiffman holds a B.S. in Applied Economics from Cornell University and a M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Columbia Business School.
