I am an established inventor of medical devices. I have received over 25 patents for my inventions, which have been used to treat millions of patients over the 30+ years that I have worked in the industry. Most recently with Life Recovery Systems, I have co-invented the ThermoSuit® System (TSS), the world’s fastest noninvasive patient cooling device. This potentially improves outcomes in patients who are suffering from cardiac arrest, AMI, ischemic stroke, or traumatic brain injury. I have previously contributed at Datascope Corp (now MAQUET) to the invention of cardiac assist devices, including IABP products, cardiopulmonary bypass devices, and the LifeStick CPR device. At Mallinckrodt Corp I invented and developed temperature monitoring and anesthesia-related devices. At RPI I performed research in the field of decubitus ulcers that included the development of a computer model of soft tissue deformations. I have managed a number of clinical studies, including a published study of the use of the TSS to treat post-cardiac arrest patients, and an ongoing study of the use of the TSS in the treatment of ischemic stroke. With my detailed understanding of a broad variety of medical procedures, in combination with my advanced biomedical engineering training, I feel that I have special abilities in the invention of new medical therapies and devices.
