Started in the steel industry in 1982 as a part-time Detailing Apprentice while in High School. I even worked in the shop for a couple months as well. I worked my way to the top as a Detailer, Estimator, Project Manager, Design Engineer, VP Engineering, and then finally President/Owner. As an Owner, I strive to maximize production and efficiency and at the same time lower an possible injuries in order to make for a very safe working environment. Through the years, I have gained thorough knowledge of: AISC Code of Standard Practice; International Building Code for design of buildings, stairs, and railings; ADA Code for stairs and railings; Indiana, Kentucky, & Ohio Law for Public Works Projects regarding retainages, payments, liens, etc...; I have designed numerous projects from house beams to 300K SF warehouse/industrial plants to 30K 1-story commercial buildings to 5-story 130K+ SF office buildings. Have performed design calculations for structural steel connections, stairs, and railings.I have been involved in some consulting in helping resolve disputes between Owners, GC's, Fabricators, and Erectors involving extras, change orders, backcharges, delays, etc...With the experience I have obtained over the years and now being out of the fabrication business, I have been doing detailing from my home. I have been quite blessed with my achievements and my Clients are showing great gratitude for the results I have given them. I have an "Old Fashioned" approach to detailing that makes it easier for my client to proceed on with his work in an efficient manner with very little effort or problems. I am currently using the latest version of SDS/2 for all detailing and connection design. I also have RAM Steel as well for structure design as well.I look to continue on with what I do and possibly look at building another company of detailers if the economy shows any promise in the future. As of right now, I intend to stay small until the opportunity arises.Specialties: Have been an Engineer Intern as of 1996 for the State of Indiana.Still wanting to sit in on the PE exam in the near futureI got trained and started using SDS/2 Detailing system in 1985. Am actilvely using SDS/2 for detailing structural and miscellaneous steel projects.Started using RAM Steel design software in 2003. Have done very little projects on it so far, but hope to get back in to it to look at doing more design-build projects.
