I was employed as a travel agent. I dealt with clients on a daily basis telephonically, face to face and via email and assisted them with planning trips and booking flights. The Job requireed a very high level of detail as large amounts of money are involved as well as careful details that cannot be overlooked. I assist with Visas, flights, accommodation and the booking thereof. The job entailed:• Problem solving: Many clients want to travel but are confused and stressed about the process. I would have to negotiate and carefully pinpoint their wants and needs.• Maintaining large data bases: All client details and information had to be up to date at all times.• Maintaining client files: All history and sensitive documentation such as passports had to be filed and looked after.• Dealing with suppliers and airlines directly: I dealt with numerous suppliers such as Thompsons Holidays, Trafalgar Tours, Emirates and British Airways on a daily basis in order to quote clients the best rates possible.• Excellent communication skills: Travel can be stressful and it was my job to be a buffer and to calm clients down when unforeseen problems arose.• Providing advice and expertise: The Travel industry has many different choices and prices, It was my job to find the perfect fit for not only what the client wants but, what the client can afford.
