Group Geologist BCM West Africa. BCM has acquired three operating gold mines and several advanced projects in Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Sierra Leone and Liberia. My role is to provide strategic direction for the business. Improve the geological understanding of the diverse projects, identifying where improvements in geological and mining processes and activities can lead to greater profitability. Evaluate new opportunities and put programs in place to bring new projects into production. Involves the whole spectrum of the mining business from exploration target generation, resource drill outs, geological and resource model generation and grade control procedures etc. This includes both underground and surface mining operations. The role has exposed me to numerous deposits across West Africa and I have gained significant insight into the geology of West Africa and detailed knowledge of several operations.General Manager Exploration, West Africa reporting to the Vice President Exploration. Involved in managing the exploration activities of Avocet in West Africa. Responsible for building the team from a small base to a group of over 150 people operating in three countries. Mentoring of local staff and providing the direction of the exploration program. Managing an annual exploration budget in excess of $35M.Superintendent near mine exploration Freeport McMoRan. Involved in developing 3D geological models of the Grasberg copper/gold district and managing drill programs for extensions to one of the world’s giant copper/gold deposits.Exploration Manager, BreakAway Resources, Involved in successfully delineating Ni 600 000 ton @ 1.3% nickel sulfide resource in Western Australia.Exploration manager, Rusina Mining. Responsible for developing Rusina’s business interests in the Philippines. Delineated a significant Ni laterite resource (134 Mt @ 1.1% Ni). Took the company from being a junior explorer to producer.Exploration manager Jaguar Minerals. Responsible for planning and implementation of exploration programs on five projects across Australia.Principal geologists Sons of Gwalia.Responsible for implementing state of the art computer technology to aid exploration department in the search for new mineral deposits.
