No one will be denied food on the basis of race, sex, age, or religious affiliation. The food available from FISH is intended only as a supplement to other sources, or an emergency supply, as FISH is very conscious of its limitations. To receive food from FISH, individuals must qualify by going to Opportunities, Inc. located at 905 1st Avenue North - between the hours of 9 & 12 a.m. and 1 & 4 p.m. They will check and determine the eligibility to receive food and issue a referral voucher that is used to pick up food at FISH. Food cannot be given without a referral voucher. The vouchers are confidential, filed, and kept in the FISH office to track the food provided to individual applicants. Funding for FISH comes from the 14 sponsoring organizations, by benevolent individuals, and groups who donate food and/or money. The sponsoring organizations are: Central Christian Church; Church of the Incarnation; First Presbyterian Church, First Congregational United Church of Christ; Bethel Lutheran Church; St. John's Lutheran Church; Faith Lutheran Church; Christ United Methodist Church; Our Savior's Lutheran Church; Redeemer Lutheran Church; Vineyard Christian Fellowship; First Southern Baptist Church; Great Falls Y's Men (service club of the YMCA); and Sunrise Presbyterian Church. I worked as a SAFE Team member to prevent the Great Falls School Board from closing a middle school - against the wishes of the voting public. The SAFE Team was successful in stopping the school's closure by running a campaign that removed two school board members and a year later three more. While on the SAFE Team I chaired the Safety Committee.
