NQ Technical Repair Engineer, with the training, development and mentoring under British Gas.I was put through and completed a further 10 week Technical Training Course with British Gas via the Skills Training Group, Paisley. I then entered and completed a 3 month mentoring programme under guidance from an experienced engineer and passed a number of internal assessments from our quality assurance team. Having completed my mentoring process I am now solo working gaining experience daily, building up my knowledge fault finding, working on a variety of different systems and boiler manufacturers. Using a number of resources available to fault find quickly and efficiently to give the customer first time fix where possible working towards company performance targets. I have also now completed my Gas Fire and Unvented Cylinder qualifications since joining British Gas.

Raf Lossiemouth

Within this role I act as Safety and Quality Assurance Manager advising to senior executives on all matters pertaining to Business Continuity, Emergency Planning and sustainment criteria of engineering and aviation assets across a busy RAF Unit; managing equipment, staff and resources to affect outcomes and drive forward a culture of continuous improvement.Adept at, and accountable for the provision of planning advice and output to ensure organisational KPIs and aims are achieved regularly. Subsequently, identifying shortfalls to analyse strategic direction changes and realign the outlook of quality planning. Enhancing operational performance in line with the organisations KPIs, utilising specific change management skills, trended safety data and guidelines set out within the International Organisation for Standardisation framework, ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001.In this role I also managed the technical trade training of c.60 staff ensuring they were legally certified and authorised for conducting maintenance on high value aviation assets. Not only this, but I advised and delivered H&S advice for adherence by all staff.

Raf Leuchars / Raf Lossiemouth

As the capabilities manager in a busy front line technical environment, it was necessary to establish modification programmes within the department to encompass the ever-changing customer need, involving electronics and mechanical systems. Here I was the pivotal lead for the introduction of a Emergency Personal Location Beacon modification, which was later rolled-out across the RAF, as part of a retro-fit programme; and was directly responsible for vastly improving flight safety having amended technical publications prior to release to service.A senior lead, participating in continuous improvement initiatives; demonstrating a proven effective ability to formalise optimum planning strategies to mitigate risk and alleviate pressure/burdens for senior executives. Identifying shortfalls in capabilities so as not to affect delivery of a continued operational output, maintaining strict control over all staff competencies as part of their continued professional development. Not only this, but I provided final sign-off and legal certification for engineering works conducted in line with maintenance procedures. This could include my expertise of acceptable deferred faults and limitations on performance prior to aircrew accepting aircraft before flight. It was necessary for me to ascertain impact to operating systems during flight and advise as required, while ensuring flight safety was not affected.

Responsible for leading tasks in support of operational assembly plans and maintaining a duty of care for the servicing of all equipment in a timely manner due to the high volume of throughput for single and multiple operator assets, with an inventory holding of £1.5m. Analysing Risk/COSHH Assessments to fulfill all duties in accordance with all relevant policies and legislations. Ensuring my team’s adherence to all laid out standards and awareness to Human Factors Engineering reporting within a continuous improvement and ISO governed organisation; this also included the enforcement of correct PPE for each of my team members. Provided current engineering and technical knowledge to all junior and in-experienced staff members; acting as coach, mentor and On-the-Job Instructor to ensure personal and professional development, all within a Mil (MAA) and Civ (CAA) Airworthiness environment (MAOS-145). Regularly responsible for updating associated engineering documentation, communicating life cycles and scheduled maintenance data to allow for senior management to make informed decisions and prioritise against perceived shortfalls in business continuity; thus guaranteeing a speedy resolution to unserviceable asset issues and maintaining a tracking system for strategic technical planners to forecast and procure necessary replacement assets.

Within this role I maintained survival equipment engineering assets working as part of a team of 5 multi-faceted aircraft engineers. This role saw me manage scheduled maintenance along with being able to react swiftly to arising maintenance issues on operationally vital aviation assets. I had to ensure that the turnaround of equipment was done so in a timely manner, legally certifying all assets as serviceable.I worked on a varied array of equipment assemblies, such as; emergency escape parachutes designed to save the life’s of Aircrew on ejection or restraint systems, life rafts and Personal Survival Pack (PSP) packed to Temperate and Desert scales, Automatic Life-raft Inflation Units (ALIU), Automatic Deployment Units (ADU). I also carried out all updates and modifications to Aircrew Vision Enhancement Devices, mission-integrated protective helmets and oxygen masks, emergency location beacons, life preservers and anti-G protection garments.

• Successfully completed unpaid work placement conducting various gas safety roles to enhance gas portfolio, including; Servicing, Installations & Commissioning of both Combi and System Boilers ensuring that all protocols were followed within the MI’s. Vented / Unvented hot water Cylinder replacements, Cooker Installations and Repairs, Landlord Gas Safety Checks, Meter Removal, Let-By and Tightness Testing and all associated pipework tasks.• Provided an on-call service, establishing root cause faults, diagnosing breakdowns with gas appliances, including component replacement, draining of heating systems, radiator and TRV replacement with adjustment of associated pipework.• Maintained a customer service approach to all tasks undertaken, ensuring customer satisfaction and cleanliness of clients’ homes was upheld.
