My role as a Heritage Consultant at Wessex Archaeology, and previously at Cotswold Archaeology, has been predominantly concerned with undertaking assessments on behalf of clients in support of planning applications. Documents that I have produced or have assisted in the production of include:• Desk-Based Assessments • Environmental Statement Chapters• Settings Assessments• Scoping Reports• Heritage Statements and Appraisals• Mitigation Strategies• Proofs of Evidence for planning appeals I have worked with clients from a range of sectors most notably the renewable energy sector – predominantly on applications for solar parks and wind turbines, and the construction industry – for housing and commercial developments. I have also worked on a number of linear schemes including a road scheme and several pipelines.Throughout my work as a consultant, amongst other research skills, I have developed highly robust skills in the assessment of development impacts on the setting of heritage assets and am highly familiar with the most up to date methodology in this area. Through this experience I have developed a keen interest in architecture, building on my prior knowledge in this area. In recent years I have actively sought experience working on projects that involve historic buildings and conservation areas and have undertaken building survey. Throughout my career I have been responsible for consulting with clients, providing advice on heritage issues and have partaken in project team meeting. I have had responsibility for consultation with Local Planning Authority officers and statutory consultees such as Historic England with whom I have negotiated on behalf of clients. I have commissioned geophysical survey and archaeological work, produced Written Schemes of Investigation and managed subcontractors. I have also produced tenders for projects.
