I went to Guam to the Proteus. Completing my tour here as the a machinery repairman and machinist. I worked in the repair division of the shop fixing and maintaining our machines. I have also spent some time in the engraving shop and learned a little about being a locksmith. I then moved on the Construction Battalions. I was a Work Center Supervisor in the machine shop. Normal work days consisted of machining, pump and motor repair, and welding. Onboard the USS Seattle I assumed the Work Center Supervisor job in the Machinery shop. -Maintained tracking for job repairs and - Supervised shop person.- Supply Supervisor Managing repair parts and consumable inventory.- Encouraged shipmates to think and make decisions based on safety, cost and quality.- Troubleshoot problems with equipment.- Cooperated with all divisions assuring good work relationships aboard ship.- Trained in Operational Risk Management.- Maintained work logs, training logs, job requests, and work orders.- Trained new sailors in the machining and machinery repair.I also assumed the collateral duty of Fire- Trained over 200 members of the Duty section in all aspects of Shipboard Damage control.- Ran and Evaluated training drills to identify week areas and individuals.- Scheduled mandatory training to review and correct deficiencies.- Scheduled watches.- Conducted shipboard safety inspections.- Enforced both personal and professional standards.- Conducted personal evaluations of subordinates.- Facilitated training in the classroom and in the field.- Enforce policies fairly and consistently.The rest of the time I spent teaching individuals that wanted to be a Machinist.
