In June, 2017, Bob Snowden retired from a career in education, the last 22 years of which were as Head of School at St. Michaels University School, in Victoria, BC, Canada. Prior to that he held leadership positions at two well known independent schools, Appleby College and Ridley College, in Ontario, Canada. In September, 2017, Bob started Snowden Consulting, an educational consultancy whose main focus is the "Survival of Excellence - sustaining educational excellence in a disrupted world." Through analysis, workshops, coaching and mentoring, the goal of Snowden Consulting is to support schools and their leaders by preparing for the future with confidence and intelligence. In addition, Bob has been taken on by Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS, Canada's premier organization of independent schools) as an Advisor for CAISServices, and as an Onsite Co-ordinator for Accreditation.

For 22 years, Bob Snowden served as Head of St. Michaels University School (SMUS), one of Canada's leading co-educational day and boarding schools, known for its innovative approach to learning and pedagogy, and for its outstanding programs in the arts and athletics. During this time, the School executed an ambitious facilities re-development plan, building over $45 million of buildings, most of it fundraised. In 2012, SMUS was recognized by the College Board as the top school in Canada for Advanced Placement Equity and Excellence (out of 650 schools), and in the top 60 schools in the world (out of 18,000).
