I helped manage a new Captain D's fast food seafood restaurant in Jonesborough, TN with about 20-25 employees. I assisted with various management duties including ordering, scheduling, accounting, and observing staff and guests. I also took part in all functions of day to day operations in the dining room and kitchen.

I covered the crime and courts beat for the award-winning daily newspaper in Elizabethton/ Carter County, TN. I also reported on various other subjects including business, government, activities, history, and other human interest stories. I received several awards from the Tennessee Press Association for my work at the Star. In addition to reporting, I also took part in photography, editing, obituaries, and minor designing.
