California State Lead Petroleum Engineer
CurrentI serve as a technical expert within the Oil and Gas Management Program responsible for providing oversight of the Federal and Indian Oil and Gas resources within the state. Utilizing knowledge and application of the principles of geology and engineering and for all aspects of oil and gas management. Responsibilities include:Serve as budget lead for all oil and gas fluid mineral functional areas. Provide oversight and assistance to Field Offices in the development of geological and mineral aspects of NEPA documents. Provides policy and technical guidance to the Field Offices on related planning issues for Oil and Gas Fluid Minerals program.Review and research applications for suspension of operations on Federal oil and gas leases. Assist in review and recommendation of lease agreements.Conduct program audits, prepare findings, identify training needs, makes recommendations to the State Director. Evaluate and process royalty rate reductions and ensure compliance with regulations. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other BLM offices, agencies, groups, and responds to public questions concerning laws, regulations, and policy related to oil and gas mineral resources on public lands.
