Business Litigation Attorney | High-Stakes Litigation & Dispute Resolution | Legal Counseling | Risk ManagementAs Senior Director, Litigation at Republic, I head Republic's litigation efforts. I am responsible for Republic's portfolio of active and potential disputes, working across Republic's various business units. I work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute strategies to achieve the company's objectives and initiatives. As part of these efforts, I partner with inside and outside counsel to efficiently and effectively resolve Republic's litigation matters (or prevent them in the first instance), from pre-suit advisory services and early case assessment to ultimate resolution.As a Shareholder in Polsinelli's Business Litigation Department, I represented public and private clients in all phases of litigation. I led pre-suit advisory services; drafted budgets; managed discovery (using vendors, contract reviewers, and software solution tools); investigated claims alleged and interviewed key fact witnesses; took, defended, and prepared witnesses for depositions; drafted sophisticated motion briefing; planned strategic settlement discussions; and engaged in trial and appeal. This practice included important victories. For instance, I co-led a team that defeated a $60.5 million arbitration for claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, tortious interference, breach of contract, and breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing. The dispute involved buy-sell provisions, ownership interests, and termination of employment. I was a member of a team that obtained a $93 million judgment against a controller and several other officers and directors of an oil company for breach of fiduciary duty and for conspiring to breach fiduciary duty. This was the "Top Plaintiff's Win" in Missouri in 2019 and followed a two-week jury trial. And, I led a team that obtained summary judgment for a financial services company named in a $150 million Telephone Consumer Protection Act class action lawsuit. The Ninth Circuit affirmed. As an Associate at Weil, I defended companies in securities, M&A, and stockholder class action and derivative litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country. Counseled company boards of directors and senior management regarding corporate governance and business and regulatory matters. Represented boards of directors and individuals responding to stockholder demands, conducted internal investigations, and responded to inquiries from governmental bodies.
