The course focuses on the 7 domains of the CAP Common Book of Knowledge: Risk Management Framework (RMF), Categorization of Information Systems, Selection of Security Controls, Security Control Implementation, Security Control Assessment, Information System Authorization and Monitoring of Security Controls. The course prepared student responsible for formalizing processes that assess risk and establish security requirements and documentation using the Risk Management Framework (RMF) model. Ensure that information systems possess security commensurate with the level of exposure to potential risk, as well as damage to assets, individuals or the nation.

Ensure security support and evaluation to integrate information assurance/security throughout the System Life Cycle Development and maintain the system accreditation for active directory.Supporting networks across the NASA enterprise, securing enterprise information by determining security requirements; planning, implementing, and testing security systems; preparing security standards, policies, and procedures.

Concepts in data communications, such as signaling, coding and decoding, multiplexing, circuit switching and packet switching, OSI and TCP/IP models, LAN/WAN protocols, network devices and their functions, topologies and capabilities are discussed. Industry standards and the development of networking technologies are surveyed in conjunction with a basic awareness of software and hardware components used in typical networking and internetworking environments. Professionally mentored several students who have subsequently entered the technology workforce motivated and educated in computer networking technology.
