Robert is a solicitor with four decades of experience. He deploys this to his clients’ advantage in his role as a consultant in the Company & Commercial Law Team of Bishop & Sewell LLP. During Robert’s long, varied and interesting career, he has acquired knowledge of many different disciplines within the legal profession. These have included the acquisition of companies and enterprises, such as an airline, hotels, a publishing business, sporting estates and a mining group. He has also acted for a consortium producing African wildlife films; this necessitated complex contracts for the television and publishing rights. Robert’s clients are drawn from both here and abroad. He has often worked for clients from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman. He advised a London-based international Chamber of Commerce and had a key role in the setting up of an arbitration system tailored to the resolution of contractual disputes between European and Middle Eastern parties. Recently, he has undertaken work for clients from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, India and Monaco. Robert was the managing partner of an international law firm, and many leading names in the legal industry have sought and relied on his expertise. These include: Fox & Gibbons; Denton Wilde Sapte; Reid Minty; Gordon Dadds and Clifford Turner. He is at home in assisting clients with any nature of business or commercial law matter, and the sheer scope of his expertise gives them a resource difficult to match elsewhere. He enjoys deploying practical and common sense solutions to clients’ issues. Education College of Law Hobbies & Interests Robert lived for some of his early years in India and North Africa. He is married with one son, who is a music lawyer. He divides his time between London and Somerset. Robert’s sporting interests are cricket and rugby, and he studied History of Architecture at Birkbeck College.
