My time at Selux encompassed lighting design for numerous projects, interior and exterior.I was also involved with the mechanical coordination of a number of railway stations and underground transport lighting projects, acting as a design/engineering conduit for our clients through to our Berlin HQ, utilising the various lighting trunking systems.I was also involved in mechanical and lighting design processes for exterior projects, commonly using conical seamless steel lighting poles. I aided the implementation of the wooden lighting pole offer as well as general design and engineering for custom pole designs and provided coordination for the UK operation to a reputable third party pole supplier.

When Osram took over Siteco, my role as a design engineer continued, providing technical support to the sales team.

Building on my experience from Synthesis Design, the my role at Siteco was initially similar, providing concepts in CAD form and visualisations, then taking these through to production via in-house or sub-contracted manufacturing facilities.I also started to provide the sales team with lighting scheme designs primarily using Relux, and also provide other technical sales support services.Due to the broad product range I was trained to provide some specialist services on top of the general lighting design work, including Mirrortec designs, road tunnel lighting designs, and some sports lighting design (including some projects where TV cameras and slow motion cameras were to be employed).I also provided mechanical coordination for some of the large scale exterior projects utilising custom pole and high-mast designs, where a tight integration with pole suppliers was required.

Synthesis Design was a small luminaire design consultancy, where I was initially responsible for 2D CAD work for luminaire designs and concepts.The concept work evolved into 3D CAD designs, extending to visualisation and rapid prototyping, combined with conventional sheet metal design work.The role also involved some optical design work using Photopia.
