- Lead GE9X engine combustor thermal team through key milestones, reviews, hardware releases, & FAA certification; oversee test instrumentation layout, data reduction, 3D thermal analysis, and validation- GE9X focal & cooling design owner, implementing new dome/deflector cooling technology- Create more robust & efficient 1D heat transfer (HT) tool, using Visual Basic & Excel, incorporating the latest cooling technology options & adding variational analysis to the standard HT toolset- Used Python to help develop & test combustor thermal Cumulative Damage Models (anticipated potential failure modes during engine operation); using NumPy & Pandas libraries, implemented 1D HT tool correlations in a digitized combustor simulation to assess temperatures and life of components- Facilitate weekly Combustor Technical Community with multi-disciplined audience (aerodynamics, heat transfer, & mechanical) with Chief Consulting Engineers across multiple engine programs- Improve technical knowledge & process through helping to co-author new CMC thermal design practice (DP), amend current combustor thermal DP, and participate in Design Board activities- Mentor & train new hires & team members in combustor HT cooling layout & analysis tools; facilitated all, and taught portions, of the Accelerated Combustor Cooling Course

- Designed cooling layouts (creating both cooling layout & 2D heat transfer tools using Visual Basic & Excel) for multiple combustors, and led into production through key technical reviews- Executed cooling design & 3D analysis of combustor liners & deflectors using MSC Patran/Thermal- Developed & trained new hires in combustor cooling design & analysis through 1-on-1 mentoring and creating a combustor cooling website linked with tools, best practices, and documentation- Created & advanced analysis combustor scripting tools (bash, visual basic, PPT add-ins) for pre- & post-processing 3D analysis model & results - Thermal designer & analyst for jet engine components (Joint Strike Fighter augmentor & slip ring test hardware; GEnx combustor & test rigs, using Patran/Thermal for steady state & transient analysis)

- Converted the early form of the combustor 1DHT tool to Visual Basic- Supported M&I heat transfer (modeling)

- Completed Green Belt training for slot film correlation, still current best practice for the early design phases today- Achieved 6 Sigma Green Belt Certification- Helped create a measuring tool to get data (combustor measurements: cup/swirler angle, combustor length, etc.) on location from combustors in the field

- Initiated film cooling correlation studies (eventually culminated in Green Belt certification)- Supported M&I heat transfer modeling & development

- Consolidated engine requirements from service manuals & known fielded deviations to those requirements (for CF6) into one searchable document- Supported many engine field issues
