In this position, I oversee, plan and manage all facets of the overall experience that a product (interface, application, product, system or policy) delivers to a group of users. Specifically, my responsibilities include the oversight and execution of Team management, Visual Design, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Usability, and Human-Computer Interaction as well as accounting for the Cognitive Performance associated with said product. I advocates for the end user’s needs and desires throughout the design and development process. I identify and implement relevant research methodologies aimed at understanding, exploring and identifying User Requirements for a digital or physical product. I plan, conduct and analyze validation tests (Usability, Accessibility, Feasability) for digital or physical products with relevant stakeholders. I generate documents and artifacts (Use Cases, User Personas, Scenarios, Network Diagrams, Task Flows, Wireframes, Sitemaps, Paper Prototypes, Static Digital Prototypes, Dynamic Digital Prototypes, Physical Prototypes, 3D CAD Prototype Models, 3D Printed Prototypes) to represent, identify and communicate User Requirements to our development team. I have been on teams responsible for submitting 33 disclosures in less than three years, with approximately one-quarter resulting in intellectual property for NCH. In addition, I also compose sections for grant proposals and coauthoring peer-reviewed academic papers and presentations.

Apply Design Mindset to envision and design unique solutions to unusual problems. Collaborate with a teams of Cognitive Scientists, Human Factors Engineers and Software Developers to develop useful, usable, desirable products.Employ data collection methods such as: Cognitive Task Analysis Interviews, Cognitive Wall Walks, Ethnographic Observations in addition to Physical and Virtual Toolkits. Translate user needs and information requirements into interface prototypes of various fidelities – ranging from rough paper sketches to fully animated interactive mock ups. Create storyboards using various Adobe Creative Suite programs in addition to other programs that communicate the user interface style guide, user flows, interface wireframes and specifications in a framework that support the development of navigation flowcharts. Create software interfaces that allow operators to make sense of complex, high risk domains, thereby empowering them to make an informed decision in the current circumstances. Collaborate with team members and clients on the evaluation and validation of the prototype interfaces that we have developed, with my primary role being an advocate for the operator Excel when part of a highly functional team that meets together to define the problem space, then breaks apart to work individually, followed by a reconvening of the team to critique and evaluate our individual work in light of the defined problem space.
