I: oversee fundraising for AUC in the U.S. and Canada; am formalizing the University’s gift planning program, which entails creating gift planning policies, website text, donor stories, a gift planning brochure, and, in collaboration with Pentera, marketing pieces; cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, Trustees, former Trustees, Friends, and others for principal, major, annual, and planned gifts; and, advise colleagues on planned gifts and U.S. and Canadian tax law.

I: oversaw fundraising for AKU in the U.S. and Canada; created the University’s gift planning program, which resulted in over $27 million in documented planned gifts, and which entailed creating gift-planning policies, gift planning brochures, website text, donor stories, and marketing pieces; cultivated, solicited, and stewarded alumni, Ismailis, former staff members, volunteers, and others for principal, major, annual, and planned gifts; advised the President, Deans, CEOs, Trustees, and colleagues on planned gifts, U.S. and Canadian tax law, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and, traveled and conducted events with the President, the Dean of the Medical College, the Dean of the School of Nursing, the CEO of the Aga Khan University Hospital, and others.

As a member of the Office of Gift Planning, I: cultivated, solicited, and stewarded Princeton alumni for both outright and planned gifts; met with almost 200 alumni a year; collaborated with donors’ attorneys and financial advisors on gifts of complex assets and on creating gift annuities, unitrusts, and charitable lead trusts; advised Leadership Gift and Principal Gift Officers on structuring gifts and joined them on visits; collaborated with class volunteers on cultivating and soliciting alumni, created proposals on gift annuities, unitrusts, lead trusts, bequest provisions, and gifts of real property, life insurance, and tangible personal property; collaborated with colleagues on drawing up gift agreements and on overseeing the investment of the University’s unitrusts; collaborated with the Office of General Counsel on realized bequests and other matters; created gift-planning pieces such as new proposals for life-income gifts, question-and-answer pieces on gift annuities and unitrusts, and a piece on testamentary gifts from qualified plans; and, made gift-planning presentations to Leadership Gift and Principal Gift Officers. My donors' gifts included realized bequests of $4.1 million and $5.3 million, as well as innumerable charitable remainder unitrusts, charitable gift annuities, bequest provisions, and gifts to Annual Giving.

I professionalized the Office of Gift Planning during the Design for Healing Campaign, which contributed to funding the new Princeton hospital; at $171.3 million, the Campaign was the largest ever by a mid-size hospital in the U.S. I directed the Art for Healing program, which funded salubrious art for the new hospital.

Over 10 years, I rose from Associate Director of Leadership Gifts to Director of Gift Planning. I directed the Office of Gift Planning, which consisted of three administrators and one staff member. I cultivated, solicited, and stewarded the College’s alumni for innumerable charitable remainder unitrusts, gift annuities, bequest provisions, and outright gifts.
