As a general counsel and senior business executive with experience representing private equity firms and Fortune 500 companies in energy, power, and infrastructure, including decarbonization and energy transition, I combine my passion for the future of energy with finding solutions to meet the world’s energy needs.I began my legal career at Vinson & Elkins, an Am Law 100 firm, representing corporate, financial and private equity clients in acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, syndicated and project financings, and corporate matters worldwide. Subsequently, I joined Occidental Petroleum Corporation as a corporate counsel, undertaking the unique opportunity to negotiate contracts for the largest oil and gas exploration program in Oxy’s history at the time while being based in Libya for almost a year. Subsequently, I joined GDF Suez Energy North America (now Engie) to develop its renewable business in North America, ultimately leading me to Riverstone in January 2010.Over the course of the last decade-plus, I have played a key role in growing Riverstone and its numerous portfolio companies across multiple funds, SPACs and other investment vehicles through structured deals and transactions that have included mergers/acquisitions and divestitures, early-stage venture investments, capital markets, financings, joint ventures, and bankruptcies/restructurings. Additionally, I have advised on fund formation matters, placement agent services, strategic business initiatives and supported board activities, counseled on regulatory compliance matters, managed litigation, and assisted with HR/employee matters. These experiences have shaped my passion for helping entrepreneurs create, grow, or operate businesses of all sizes at different inflection points, whether from a tiny startup, to IPO, to a legacy company. I thrive on partnering at all levels across the firm, leveraging my ability to convey complex concepts simply and clearly, while seamlessly interacting with executives and board members on strategy, risk management, ESG and sustainability reporting, and due diligence.
