Cranbrook Schools Horizons-Upward Bound

During the Summer 2017,2018,2019 and 2020 phases of Horizons-Upward Bound, I instructed the Physics course. I was responsible for preparing 25 rising Junior students for the rigors of a full-year Physics course. Through the six-week program, I delivered instruction, performed demonstrations, implemented laboratory experience, and oversaw a final project on the Physics of rocket flights. Physics 240 is a calculus based introduction to Electromagnetism for science and engineering students. As a learning assistant, I hold office hours to answer students questions about the concepts and problems discussed in lecture. I also review past problems and lectures to ensure that I am prepared to successfully explain difficult concepts to students. Physics Departement

Beginning in December of 2015 I am working on HELIX - the High Energy Light Isotope Experiment. HELIX is a NASA mission designed to study the composition and the origin of the Cosmic Rays. HELIX will utilize a superconducting magnet and incoming particle trackers. The experiment will be lofted into the stratosphere by a high altitude research balloon.

High Energy Astrophysics Group

I worked on the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) under Professor Gregory Tarle. DESI is a Sage IV optical dark energy survey funded by the US Department of Energy. Specifically I worked on the positioner subsystem. My main focus was on the manufacturing processes for the positioners and applications of additive manufacturing (3D printing) to the development process.

Horizons-Upward Bound

In summer 2015 I had primary responsibility for teaching one section of 10/11th grade algebra and problem solving. I work with students in grades 9-12 in the daily study hall. In math I have experience tutoring Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. In science I tutor in Physics and Chemistry. I have teaching experience in Geometry, Algebra II and Physics. I emphasize fundamental understanding of concepts rather than rote memorization. At Horizons--Upward Bound I help manage complex logistics of a large educational program. My primary responsibilities in the office are: assisting in student enrollment processing, assisting with student academic record keeping, coordination of logistics for special events (all program Detroit Tigers Trip), supply inventory management, and classroom instructional technology management.
