Dr. Robert Tatum is the Cary Caperton Owen Distinguished Professor in Economics at the University of North Carolina Asheville. He earned his PhD in Economics from Indiana University in 2005. His teaching and research has traditionally focused on international and development macroeconomics, supported in part by a U.S. Fulbright-Hays Award to Brazil. More recently, his scholarship has shifted toward theology-oriented economics-supported policymaking, with research published in the Journal of Markets and Morality, Faith and Economics, and the Journal of Economics, Theology, and Religion. Rob has also developed an interdisciplinary course titled "Morality and Material Progress," supported by a grant from the U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as an undergraduate capstone course on Theological Economics. Robert’s current and planned research projects concern the theology and economics of globalization, economic growth, and economic inequality. He is actively involved with the Kirby Laing Centre for Public Theology in Cambridge and its Economics Research Hub and considers the Association for Christian Economics UK one of his intellectual homes. Rob loves spending time with his wife and two children and enjoys traveling and exploring the great outdoors through hiking, camping, fishing, and trail running.
