About Robert Taylor

ROBERT S. TAYLOR, P.CHEM.TECHNICAL CONSULTING DIRECTOR AT COMPUTER MODELLING GROUPI am excited to announce I have joined Computer Modelling Group in the capacity of Technical Consulting Director. In this role I will be working with CMG’s consulting team and its clients on optimizing design of hydraulic fracturing treatments using an integrated system of fracturing and reservoir modelling.CMG reservoir simulation software greatly advances our ability to properly model post fracturing production by incorporating the phase behavior of reservoir fluids and the resulting relative permeability curves. This provides much more accurate modelling of production and an enhanced workflow for design of future treatments over fracture modelling alone. It also provides valuable insights into best production practices related to maintenance of optimum bottom hole flowing pressure. Enhanced fracturing treatment design and production practices support increased overall asset profitability. We will be providing training as well as consulting support in this enhanced modelling workflow. In addition, we will provide familiarization with many basic fracturing design skills typically taught in introductory & advanced fracturing treatment schools. These include DFIT, Limited Entry, Step Down, and Log analyses, as well as discussion of perforation strategy, fluid rheology, and fracturing fluids types, strengths, and weaknesses. The overall objective of this training is to provide an easy to use workflow which increases success and profitability.I bring to this role 42 years of industry experience as a recognized expert in fracturing and acidizing treatment design and economic optimization of production assets. I have developed new industry leading fracturing fluid and acidizing systems and am a frequent and respected speaker and chair at industry technical conferences. I hold 31 patents and have presented 16 technical papers at SPE conferences in addition to numerous other presentations and chairing opportunities at commercial technical conferences. The papers I have published include a major Duvernay study jointly completed with Computer Modeling Group and the University of Calgary Engineering department which utilized the workflow we will be teaching and supporting. I have built industry leading technical teams and utilized excellent communication skills while supporting clients and teaching at client schools. I am a past President of the Chemical Profession of Alberta and a registered professional in Alberta.

Mgr. Canadian P.E. Technology And Reservoir Studies Team

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

• Provided expert stimulation and completion recommendations to clients utilizing:o Gohfer software for Fracturing Treatment Design. Optimize following for maximum economic return: Perforation cluster spacing Stage spacing Horizontal wellbore spacing Proppant mesh size Total proppant tonnage Rate Fracturing fluid compositiono CMG software for Compositional Reservoir Simulation based on Gohfer input data. Lead author on a Duvernay study co-authored by CMG, Professor Roberto Aguilera at the U of C, and Yoho Resources entitled Optimization of Horizontal Wellbore and Fracture Spacing Using an Interactive Combination of Reservoir and Fracturing Simulation (SPE-171602-MS). Revealed that complex fractures were generated as evidenced by microseismic data, without contributing significantly to production.  Produced follow up paper the next year, using the same CMG GEM model to investigate possible reasons for lack of production from complex fractures. Studied the impacts of increased reservoir water saturations and facilitated increased production and economic return by discovering the problem and isolating the direction to changes in fracturing treatment design.o Diagnostic Fracture Injection Test Analysis.o Fracturing Fluid Rheology design and modeling.o Step Down Test Analysis.o Limited Entry Fracturing Treatment Design.• Supported existing client relationships and developed new clients through technical meetings and recommendations for development of specific reservoirs.• Prepared and taught client schools with 30-40 students on Fracturing Treatment design and optimization, increasing client knowledge and supporting economic goals. • Won new clients and partnered with current client base by recruiting, training, and managing a strong Reservoir Studies technical team of 8 experienced professionals. • Represented Halliburton at technical conferences, presenting papers and chairing conferences for up to 300-400 industry professionals.(see papers)
