The Scaffolding Association Queensland (SAQ) was formed in 1994 to increase the level of professionalism in an industry too often ignored or misrepresented in the building process. Before the Scaffolding Association Queensland was formed, Queensland’s scaffolding industry had no organisation to represent their industry.Since forming in 1994, the SAQ has represented its membership in dealings with State and Federal agencies from associated industries. The SAQ has also developed a successful track record lobbying Government and representing SAQ members in meetings with Government organisations. The hard work and commitment of members of the SAQ has also helped improve training and safety standards for scaffolding workers in Queensland.Over the past 24 years, the SAQ has helped members enhance and expand their businesses by providing support and advice with business management skills as well as updates on technological advances in the scaffolding industry and updates to scaffolding legislation. There are currently 37 members representing a range of large and small industry associated companies.I am proud to be a committee member and to contribute to the goals and mission of the SAQ.

With the addition of more staff and an ever expanding cliental in the wider construction industry, Thiess Consulting then changed name to Construc Pty Ltd in 2006.

Start up Scaffold company based on the Gold Coast with approx. 1000T of Cuplock scaffold to service the commercial and residential market in South East Qld.Managed overall rental and labour business with 7 office staff and approximately 30 full time scaffolders and up to 100 casual or sub-contractor labour.

Provided Engineering and technical support for the company's temporary works products (formwork and scaffold) to the 17 Branches throughout Qld, NT and SE Asia. The state engineering section started with staff of 2 and grew to 6 during my time in this role. Approximately 250 projects a year typically valued between $10K - $4M are handled by this office. Product development and QA was also included as part of this role as well as customer relations and site deployments of the company sales and rental fleets.Extensive experience in the design, detailing and site inspections of a broad range of temporary works products. The company had recently completed a merger between 3 different companies within the group, all with their own product lines.

Designed and/or supervised the construction of over 200 reasonable size buildings. Main design engineer and site engineer for a 18 storey office block at 340 Adelaide Street with a construction cost in excess of $20 Million.
