Responsibilities include: tracking of confidential materials and documents within the lab to transfer into studies in animals. Acting as historian for IACUC meetings working closely with the Administrator of Comparative medicine and Veterinary staff. Also co-founded a committee to establish a broad sweeping laboratory biosafety initiative Program aimed to educate all staff of the requirements law.

Developing novel, non-viral gene therapy techniques. Responsibilities include: fundamental in vivo research in gene targeting and downstream functional studies. Data analysis, presentation, and collaborative planning in small teams weekly.

I studied the molecular genetics of neural circuitry in the fruit fly. In our lab we examined how sensory information is detected in the periphery, processed by the central nervous system, and ultimately converted to behavioral output. Specifically I characterized how a family of ion channels functions at the molecular and cellular level as well as contributes to choices in mating and feeding.

I helped organize, teach, and evaluate undergraduate students in the subject of mammalian neuroanatomy. This course included both lectures as well as laboratory instruction.
