I have served the needs of healthcare organizations for over thirty years primarily serving in a financial leadership role for various major healthcare systems.I currently hold the position of Senior Vice President/CFO at UF Health Shands. UF Health Shands consists of 9 hospitals in North Central Florida including its flagship facility, UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. UF Health Shands Hospital provides a clinical setting for the University of Florida's various health-related colleges including the UF Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing. Prior to joining UF Health, I served as the Executive Vice President/CFO for GBMC Healthcare in Baltimore, Maryland and prior to that as the EVP/CFO for Bayfront Health System in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 2013, I assisted in guiding Bayfront's Board of Trustees through the successful execution of its strategic vision to find a partner that would preserve the mission of Bayfront and provide improved access to capital, growth, cost savings and best practices. The end result was the creation of a joint venture that enabled Bayfront to repurpose itself as a community foundation with a $150 million endowment to support projects that contribute to improved health care access, health research and education, while also maintaining a 20% ownership interest in the health care organization it previously operated.From 2013 to 2015, I provided post-transaction consulting services to the newly reorganized Board of Bayfront through my wholly-owned consulting practice, Patronus Healthcare Business Solutions.Prior to joining Bayfront in 1997, I served as the key financial leader for St. Anthony’s Hospital, in St. Petersburg, Florida. I also worked for Ernst & Young for six years prior to joining St. Anthony’s, exclusively serving the needs of organizations in the healthcare industry.I currently hold an active CPA license in the State of Florida and earned my BS and Master of Accounting from the University of Florida. I am active in various professional and community organizations.

Working with limited sources of available capital, Bayfront made a number of key strategic investments and opened several new facilities which expanded its capacity in service lines vital to the community and to the success of the organization including the Bayfront Baby Place at All Children’s Hospital; the James Heart Center; twelve (12) new, state of the art operating suites; and Bayfront Physician Specialty Services (wholly-owned, multi-specialty physician group developed through targeted practice acquisitions and physician employment agreements). These investments were made possible through several initiatives that I deployed at Bayfront including the implementation of a corporate finance approach to strategic financial planning, the development of strong controls over operational spending, and the use of other creative and non-traditional sources of capital (monetization of non-core assets, syndication of certain service lines through joint-ventures, off-balance sheet financing, etc.)Also, throughout my tenure at Bayfront, I secured millions of dollars of state and local funding to support Bayfront’s significant commitment to the community which included supplying the lion’s share of all local charity care as well as continued investments in trauma care and physician teaching programs, among other things. In 2010, I created a new captive insurance company, wholly-owned by Bayfront, to provide an efficient vehicle to insure professional and general liability risks for the hospital, ancillary providers and affiliated physicians.From 2002 to 2013, I spearheaded the implementation of Bayfront’s fully-integrated electronic health and financial record to better align quality processes and outcomes with revenue.
