Responsible for all aspects of Electrical and Electronic Corrective and Preventative Maintenance, working on systems ranging from navigation to generation/propulsion. The vessels range from generated power of 440v to 6.6Kv so I have to adapt to the changing working environment each ship. Health and Safety is taken very seriously onboard, to prevent injury we comply with BR875, we use a tag out procedure when any work is being carried out along with permits to work which are accompanied with risk assessments and plenty of PPE. I have a vast understanding of safety at work due to my strive too maintain a safe work place and implementing procedures. My day to day work onboard varies which gives me a vast understanding on MANY systems and been able to excel my electrical knowledge throughout, ranging from main machinery too communication systems. Working in a fleet with such different eras of Electrical services gives me experience in both the old and new ways of Engineering.
