I was previously employed at Texas Department of Criminal Justice with the Correctional Institution Division, as a correctional officer. I worked in a maximum prison, with incarcerated individuals. I worked with a team approach to ensure the safety of the public, officers and inmates. My role was to maintain custody and control of inmates, prevent the entry of contraband, supervise and monitor inmates feeding, shower, and recreation. I Provided counseling, crisis intervention, attend to an emergency like suicide prevention, escort inmate to the clinic, etc., report to a supervisor, prepare written official paperwork.
