I was a group leader responsible for a group of fifteen 8-9 year old boys over the summer. I made sure their wellbeing was looked after and that they had a great experience at camp. This involved mediating disputes between children while also making sure they were getting involved with a wide range of activities and sports. Time management and communication were key for this role as we had to follow a busy schedule while also work on projects that spanned the full length of camp. This was a role that required constant attention and responsibility 24 hours a day.

As a restaurant team member I mainly worked front of house serving guests food and drinks on the bar, processing orders at tables and maintaining a clean and neat workplace. The restaurant was a sports bar which would become very busy during sporting events. Food and drinks running was also a responsibility in my role as well as setting up the restaurant before opening in the mornings and closing down at night. I would also make desserts and fill in where needed such as kitchen porter. Further responsibilities include hosting and seating guests and talking through the menus.

My role during these two months was primarily as a member of the Covid-19 testing team, ensuring that children were safe and not bringing the virus to school.

After leaving sixth form I worked full time at Scotsdales where I developed a thorough and diverse skill set. Among these skills included customer service, retail purchasing, and merchandising products on the shop floor. As I quickly gained competence and ability, I was increasingly given more responsibility to run the largest department in the garden centre (garden care) and stand in for the manager when required. After starting my studies at the University of Sheffield I continued to work on a part-time basis when I was home during the holidays in the summer and winter.
