I am a newly qualified Probation Officer based in Torquay. I have 5 years total experience of academic work and I am well versed in research, fieldwork, social and cultural theory as it relates to crime and society and emerging trends in criminological enquiry such as zemiology/social harm and deviant leisure of which the criminology faculty of UoP are at the cutting edge of research into this new field. My ambitions are a career in the criminal justice sector and eventually PHD studies.I am particularly experienced in conducting academic research utilising both primary and secondary data sources, quantitative and qualitative methods, and I am mostly interested and focused on the issue of recidivism and offender outcomes within the criminal justice system of England and Wales as well as the study of offender life courses across the world more broadly. Additionally, I am currently conducting research into virtual subcultures as an expression of a new postmodern wave of deviance and emergent criminogenic spaces. My other hobbies and interests include reading, sociology, animals and film.
