Shortly after starting with SEL, I encountered unexpected health issues which have had me sidelined. I am no longer with SEL as they could not wait for me to complete my recovery from my health issues.

I started at AREVA in 2002 as an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) engineer. I worked my way up to a Project Engineer, then to Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Proposal Manager, and subsequently to Sales Manager. As a Sales Manager, I was responsible for the sales of engineering services and equipment to five major utilities. I sold to Engineering Managers, Procurement Managers, Vice-Presidents, etc. For 2016 my stretch goal was $14.8M in sales and I had first year sales of $15.2M.The company subsequently re-organized its Sales Department going from seven Sales Managers to two Sales Managers. After the company closed their Alpharetta, GA office and reorganized, I was laid off in March, 2017.

I prepared proposals for the Installed Base - Projects group at AREVA. These proposals include equipment and Engineering services and ranged from a few thousand dollars to multi-million dollar proposals. Our clients are nuclear utilities, national labs, universities, the NRC, etc. I was responsible for multiple proposals at a time, working with other team leaders to schedule and prepare the proposals and pricing. The engineering services we sold included all disciplines (mechanical, civil, electrical, I&C) and other areas such as fire protection, cyber-security, maintenance, reliability, etc. The work also included sales/marketing and business development.

I managed a variety of multi-discipline projects, for various nuclear power plants. These projects ranged in price from $10K to $100M+. I managed a group of small/medium projects at the same time and other times I was assigned to manage a large project on a full-time basis. Many of these projects were engineering only but some included EPC projects as well. I also served as an Asst Project Manager to the Project Director for the US EPR, an advanced nuclear power plant design. I managed the nonsafety-related controls and the human factors engineering projects for the US EPR. Served as one of 4 US representatives to the AREVA EPR I&C team working with Siemens for their T3000 design for US nuclear power plants.For the US EPR, much of the design was French based and much of the equipment was from Germany. So, I experienced significant international travel and collaboration with my French and German colleagues. I managed several multicultural, international project teams, matrixed from multiple groups within AREVA.I have experience/familiarity as a user with the following computer programs: Ambition, Pro-pricer, Sharepoint, Adobe, Primavera (P6), MS Project, and SAP.

I developed proposals, including winning both an SBIR Phase I and II proposal for the DOE, to take the proprietary technologies at Apyron from pilot stage of development to commercial production. The technologies included waste remediation and food safety technologies. In addition, I wrote proposals for the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Transportation (DOT), National Institute of Health (NIH), as well as several grant applications to further our technologies' applications.I also wrote the applications for the two major awards for the company's technologies. Apyron was awarded "The Innovative Technology Award" from the Water Environmental Federation and an "R&D 100 Award" as one of the 100 most innovative technologies from R&D Magazine.

This was a contract position whereby I assisted the Project Manager with managing a team of approximately 15 engineers with addressing instrumentation and controls issues raised by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) pertaining to the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant in Clinton, Illinois. The project team was partially working on-site at Clinton and partially working at other locations across the country. The project achieved its goal of successfully addressing the issues and defending them before the NRC, allowing the plant to start back up on schedule.After the initial project, the client was so impressed with our work that they awarded additional contracts to Terran Technologies to support them with other issues. I headed up a project to upgrade the use of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) as it applied to their instrument uncertainty calculations. The project was completed on time and on budget and the client was pleased with the results.

I wrote proposals, primarily to the Department of Energy (DOE), to either test or utilize the Selentec proprietary technologies for waste remediation. Wrote and won a Phase I SBIR submittal to the DOE and won a $220 Million proposal to the DOE for the Techology Deployment Initiative. Also, I wrote other proposals to take Selentec technologies from lab scale to pilot scale and then from pilot scale to commercial operations. I then served as a Project Manager for the projects.I also wrote grant applications to various non-profits organizations and USAID as the Selentec technologies also had the capability of cleaning water for third world countries.I served as the team leader for Selentec in pursuit of ISO 9001 certification.

I worked for Sun Technical Services as a Contract Engineer at the Crystal River Unit 3 facility in Crystal River, FL. My assignment was to work with the Operations and Engineering staffs to develop instrument uncertainty and setpoint calculations for the Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).

I was brought in to increase sales. When I started, the company was 9 people doing $750K in sales per year. I helped increase the company to more than 25 people in 3 separate offices with sales of more than $12M, in less than 4 years.When the corporate office in Angleton, Texas lost the single largest project the company had, the owner closed the other two offices. As one of the minority owners of the company, I was offered the opportunity to move to Texas to work, but declined.

Served as an I&C Engineer on I&C projects for Virginia Power and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Projects included safe shutdown analysis, fire hazards analysis, and plant modifications.

I started with Impell as an Engineer and worked my way up to a Project Engineer, Project Manager and then to an I&C Supervisor. I supervised 5 other I&C engineers. We performed I&C projects and supported other larger projects with I&C needs. I also performed other engineering work (studies, analyses, plans, specs, drawings, etc.) for multiple disciplines within Impell. The work was always very high energy. I learned a lot about other disciplines and thrived in this environment.

My title was Refueling Engineer for the Catawba Nuclear Station, but as the site was under construction, my main responsibilities were to write and perform start-up testing on systems/components as they were released from Construction to Operations. I had extensive training in plant operations, systems engineering, and plant equipment. From testing pumps, pump motors to flushing piping and testing air handling units, I learned so much in this position. I also supported Duke in responding to the NRC's 79-02/79-14 issues in checking and verifying anchor bolts at the Oconee Nuclear Station. Working 12 hours a day for 7 days a week, I led one of two teams responsible for verifying the integrity of anchor bolts on safety-related and important to safety piping.

Charleston, South Carolina Area

I worked in the Refueling branch of the Charleston Naval Shipyards. I was responsible for preparing/revising refueling procedures to remove the nuclear fuel from nuclear submarines and install the new nuclear fuel back into the submarine. While I was there, the DOD had changed nuclear fuel vendors from Westinghouse to GE and thus many of the previous procedures, tooling, equipment, etc. had significantly changed. Also assisted in performing radiological surveys of other submarines prior to their release from the shipyard.
