My journey into the business world started early—back in school, I was that kid selling blow pops and suckers, even if it meant getting in trouble. I guess you could say I've always been a bit of a risk-taker.Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, I saw my father work two jobs—delivering newspapers from 2 AM to 6 AM and working at Bell Helicopter during the day. He taught me the value of hard work and sacrifice. I joined him on those late-night newspaper runs while balancing high school during the day, and those early lessons in grit shaped who I am today.While in college, I took my first dive into sales, working for PageNet Pagers (back when beepers were all the rage). When the paging era came to a close, I saw opportunity in the rising telecom world. In 1996, I applied to the Public Utilities Commission to resell home phone service as a CLEC, and that’s where it all began.My first CLEC, Kero Communications, was born out of that decision, where I handled customer info, billing, and customer service—developing my expertise in database management. After a few years, I took the leap to found my second CLEC, Express Telephone Services, in 1999. With no formal experience, I was learning on the fly, but I scaled the company to become one of the largest in Texas, grossing over $100 million in a decade.After selling Express Telephone Services, I launched eTollfree, focusing on VoIP and empowering small businesses with telecom and IT solutions.Today, I'm passionate about using technology to help entrepreneurs thrive and making complex systems simple.
