I am a data scientist and engineer who leverages data analytics to improve processes and portfolios for our member utilities. My extensive experience in the MISO and SPP energy markets has allowed me to optimize MPUA resources, saving substantial money for our members. In addition to best leveraging our physical resources, I am responsible for financial hedging decisions including our multimillion-dollar TCR and FTR portfolios. Vociferous in my pursuit of new knowledge, I taught myself R, Python, and SQL to improve processes throughout our organization. I transitioned our organization from slower Excel spreadsheets to web-based applications which are use daily by multiple departments. Since their initial deployment, these applications have saved our members over $16 million dollars – and continue to provide further savings. In addition to programming, I am also passionate about forecasting, developing forecasts for electric load, gas load, and market prices. The load forecasts are used to balance our pools daily, and the market price forecasts are used to optimally schedule resources to load. I’ve also built long-range forecasts which are used in resource planning and for submission of regulatory documents. These machine learning forecasts are the backbone of resource planning for our organization. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Recently, I graduated with an MBA from the University of Missouri - Columbia. I am also a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri.
