As my resume indicates, I have nearly 25 years of experience as a Case Manager for 4 Transitional Service centers, working with prisoners who are preparing to return or have returned back into the community. I am sure you are aware of the flexibility, focus and diplomacy such positions require. I want to bring the knowledge and insight gained through these various experiences to the position in the service of this population.I have much to offer in the way of diversity of experience and professionalism within the industry. During my tenure I connected prisoners, preparing to transition, with organizations that will assist them in finding housing, employment and vocational training. Additionally I worked with a team of peer counselors and case managers to facilitate workshops providing information that would educate the eventual parolee as well as give them skills that would make them successful upon their return to the community. I have provided information on writing a resume, reading job want ads, budgeting and financing their earned income as well as assisting the client in obtaining a social security card and birth certificate. My work in transitional services has given me the opportunity to continue to sharpen my organizational skills, attention to detail and my ability to work with accuracy. While working with organizations such as, Exodus Transitional Community, both in New York City and Poughkeepsie, NY, Beck Institute/The coming Home Program I was able to assist newly released participants from prison in assisting them to focus their energies in developing healthful habits that would lead them to live a normal healthy life.
