My motivation is to learn a little bit more about the world every day. Being curious and eager to develop myself in a wide area, I decided to study non-ferrous metallurgy at TUBAF, one of the oldest resource universities, founded in 1765. Since non-ferrous metals form the majority of the periodic table, they were the exact right choice for me as this field is interesting and uses various technologies each more fascinating than the other. After my first diploma I realized that being a generalist with prooven deep knowledge in at least one area is even more helpful. That is why I started my Ph.D. in pyrometallurgy for the deep dive while supplementing my knowledge with minor in economics. During my research, I collaborated with three instates: glass-technologies to additive manufacturing, production planning, logistics to develop my technical knowledge.At the end of my Ph.D. I began my professional career within the R&D department of of the copper smelter, Aurubis. Here I used my knowledge to develop and improve Aurubis’ processes in strategic and improvement projects as well as develop different furnace technologies, including TBRC, electric furnace and flash smelting furnaces.After finishing Explore, an internal training for high potentials, I switched to my current position as operations manager responsible for the metallurgy and technology of the secondary smelter in Aurubis Hamburg. At this position I am responsible to keep the overall processes up and running, meet production goals, amd also the opportunity to improve the performance of the secondary smelter. In one of my latest improvements I focused on a major reduction of CO2-emissions. This type of project closes the loop to my intrinsic drivers, that motivate me every day.
