As a Campus Ambassador, I connect students at UT Austin to Genentech so that anyone who is interested in biotechnology can have a chance to hear about Genentech careers. My responsibilities include hosting large informational events for internship and co-op opportunities, and I hold biweekly informational office hours for prospective applicants.

I worked in the Purification and Drug Product Pilot Plant, specifically in the Scaledown group.In my main project, I worked on creating a column packing method for MabSelect Sure resins in terms of packing buffer, pressure, and time. The goal of this project was to align research and development procedures with manufacturing standards, and ultimately a new standard protocol was successfully implemented. I also operated 17 ultrafiltration and diafiltration operations to support early stage cell culture research experiments. Additionally, I completed 25 E. coli whole cell broth homogenization, centrifugation, and filtration operations to support the Cell Culture Pilot Plant.

My project is researching naive state stem cell growth on natural extracellular matrices for organ regrowth studies. I manage lab inventory for naive state stem cell components and co-created protocols for decellularization procedures. My responsibilities include culturing stem cells, decellularizing whole organs, and reseeding the stem cells on the organ scaffolds.

I worked in Labor Planning and Resource Planning in the Pilot Plant.In Labor Planning, I piloted a timing study to collect data and analyze trends in production run times and complexity of runs. I developed a regression model to fit data trends and predict amount of labor required per monthly production requests.In Resource planning, I developed an automated approach to managing inventory and reordering raw materials. I also introduced a new scanning system to replace a Kanban inventory management system.

I studied mitochrondrial mRNA in Physarum polycephalum and aided in the creation of PCR primers for RNA editing studies.
