As a Senior Civil Engineer in the Design Engineering Organization, responsible for projects and programs within the Nuclear Mechanical Analysis and Civil Group to meet safe and compliant operation of the plant. • Experienced leading multidiscipline technical teams in the preparation of engineering design change packages to modify the plant. Work involved preparing calculations, structural analysis, specifications, drawing changes, structural condition assessments, and engineering evaluations to meet federal regulatory requirements. • Worked with plant engineering, operations and maintenance organizations to solve emergent issues that affect operations of the plant. Responsible for prompt resolution of modification problem reports, operability determinations, and technical issues associated with nuclear safety-related structures, concrete & steel members, and degradation (corrosion, cracking) during refueling outage and non-outage activities. • As the Coordinator for the Maintenance Rule (MR) for Structures Program, responsible for coordinating inspections for condition monitoring for all nuclear safety-related structures to meet federal regulatory requirements. o Work required independent inspection of the steel, concrete and earthen structures and review of all inspection reports. o Responsible (Civil) Engineer for the Intake Structure. Work involved preparing structural inspection plans, performing inspections, structural evaluations, providing technical support for repairs, and preparing written inspection reports for the massive concrete structure. • Primary Civil Engineer for Physical Security. Responsible for resolving technical issues, developing engineering change packages, and preparing calculations related to physical security. Requires knowledge of nuclear physical security safeguards, physical barriers, and security-related analysis.

Responsible for resolving technical issues related to external flooding for the site response to industry and regulatory requirements due to the accident at the Japanese Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power station. • Provided technical leadership for all response activities to the Federal Government related to external flooding hazards (10 CFR 50.54(f) Fukushima Dai-ichi Accident information request letter). o Developed a successful partnership with a major engineering consultant. Work included preparation of project bid specifications, bid evaluations, managing vendor performance and activities per schedule and contract specifications. o Led a multi-disciplined engineering team in the inspection of all plant flood protection features. Prepared the final report submitted to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. o Performance resulted in on-time and on-budget delivery of technical products. Recognized as the Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO) Award Winner 4th Quarter 2011. o Member of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) Fukushima Flooding Task Force. Work included preparing the first draft of the document NEI 12-07, which eventually became the industry standard for flood protection walkdowns for operating U.S. nuclear power plants.

Responsibilities included interface with consulting engineers for demolition sequence and design of plant protective structures.
