Senior EngineerSignature Research, Inc Mar 2008 - Oct 2012As project software engineer, designed and developed completely new version of TOSOM, for U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research & Development Center (TARDEC). It includes innovative analysis using 3D geometry for target vehicles, as well as modular design for various other technology evaluations. Consists of 285K lines of C++ code developed over 4 years. Coordinated the efforts of up to 5 developers during the period. Designed and developed online help documentation for TOSOM. Installed and maintained several configuration management tools including: subversion, TestTrack Pro, sourcesafe. Installed and maintained the file and application server for the entire SGR Huntsville Group (Windows server, apache web browser, etc). Delivered over 15 versions of the software to the end user, both in-person and online. Participated in on-site training, requirements management meetings and planning for the project. Provided significant content for proposals, statements of work and other project contractual documents during the project period. As project software engineer, continued support of FSST software with DOD customer from former employer. Sought by Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-8, analysts, designed and developed significant new functions for the FSST software. Prepared and delivered on-site training. Coordinated the efforts of up to 9 analysts on the project, during overlapping period for TOSOM development. Directed development of scenario data to support the software. Provided technical support to the user. Provided significant content for proposals and other project management documents.

Senior Systems AnalystTeledyne Brown Engineering Aug 1992 - Mar 2008UsDeveloped J8 Force Structure Screening Tool (FSST) software application (~500,000 lines of C++) code, which reads standard databases of DOD unit status and allows users to perform intelligent queries using rules and the geographic map. The FSST also simulates total DOD force demands over multi-year complex scenarios worldwide.Developed JFAS simulation software application (~500,000 lines of C++) code.Authored JFAS online help documentation.Trained Toshiba engineers in techniques of military simulation software design and development.Delivered JFAS software to Toshiba engineers in Japan. -
Principal Systems AnalystTeledyne Brown Engineering Aug 1992 - Oct 1998UsDeveloped the GUI for TOSOM. Participated in the design and porting of TOSOM exhaustive enumeration algorithms from FoxPro to C++. Designed the .tos and .eeo file formats.Developed Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) algorithms for TOSOM, including algorithms and GUI.Developed a 3-D visualization software program to display missile position and orientation via HLA/RTI.Developed a 3-D visualization simulation to depict military unit ground maneuver based on a script file, including “VCR” style forward and reverse play.Developed a network version (Windows NT) of one of the groups missile flight simulations (HLA/RTI).Conducted training for a Japanese team of developers on military simulation design and programming techniques.Developed software to incorporate orbital mechanics into 3D display software (EXODIS).Developed requirements for 3D display of military unit symbology, using automated aggregation of subordinates.Developed a conversion utility using ODBC and MFC/C++ to read/convert/write Xbase databases.Obtained, installed, enhanced and currently acting as lead developer for ELAN force-on-force computer simulation (~100,000 lines C code). Supported use of ELAN in conduct of several major studies. Customers include U.S Marine Corps, Center for Naval Analysis, OSD/PAE.Developed ability to produce weapons performance data for ELAN.Developed training course for ELAN. Instructs attrition theory section.Developed network simulation modules for ELAN (DIS and ALSP). Demonstrated capability with connection to EADSIM.Installed MODSAF force-on-force computer simulation in our computer laboratory. Provided technical support, scenario development to other users. Modified MODSAF to generate DIS PDUs in arbitrary terrain (no terrain data) locales.Provided general technical computer user support for users in computer lab (system administration, networking, ftp, user accounts, image file conversion, etc.). -
CaptainU.S. Army Training And Doctrine Analysis Command (Trac), White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico Sep 1982 - Aug 1992U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Analysis Command (TRAC), White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.Re-designed and enhanced the chemical warfare module of a large (200,000 lines) combat simulation model (VIC). Presented the work and the 59th MORS symposium.Wrote a specialized postprocessor to produce output statistics for the enhanced chemical module.Conducted the simulations for two studies involving unconventional warfare (smoke and chemical warfare).Developed a complete PC system (using ANSI C and a database engine) for modeling Soviet artillery planning. The system includes modern user menus and data forms.Developed a database for intelligence modeling on PC and UNIX systems.Developed a database for cross-referencing scenario data files for a large combat simulation (CASTFOREM).Performed as system manager for a DEC MicroVAXII for a year.Developed a system for the PC (in Turbo PASCAL) to do chemical hazard area prediction in support of Operation Desert Shield.
