Working cooperatively with the National Park Service's Joshua Tree National Park (JOTR). The objective is to assist with public land management as it relates to recreation and visitor services. More specifically, the Technicians will aid in a variety of public support activities. Primary responsibilities are writing and developing digital content for social media; Taking photos and videos using park camera equipment to support park media products; Assist park communications team with printed and digital media such as park brochures, flyers, and web pages; Collecting and analyzing data from online outreach to help understand trends and increase the reach to online, "virtual" park stewards. The Technicians will serve as a liaison between other park divisions and the Branch of Communications.

Limon, Costa Rica

• Observed sea turtle activity by participating in nightly tagging patrols, morning track surveys, nest monitoring and excavation• Responsible for tagging 65 nesting turtles, acquiring biometric data from females, recording nesting activity during track surveys, and other pertinent data collection• Contributed to the education of sea turtles by volunteering at the STC Visitor’s Center once a week.

Panama

• In CEC, Volunteers collaborate with community members to assess environmental needs, promote environmental conservation practices, and support youth to develop life skills.• Coordinated with the government organization Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) to plant 700 seeds of cacao locally• Managed a local Tilapia tank project. Tasks included measuring the development of the Tilapia as well as providing maintenance• Collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture to promote the development of an Apiculture project for sustainable honey production

• A five-week summer program for achieving high school scholars where they are expected to take college preparatory courses• Mentored and helped facilitate the academic growth of 100 high school students of color who are on the path to a degree in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math)• Instructed scholars on the importance of insects and the role they play in different environments
