The constant collaboration with partner… Show more Awarded with a Marie Curie scholarship and as a part of an Innovative Training network with partners in different European countries, my PhD focussed on the development of nanogel-based drug delivery systems to the brain. My interdisciplinary project consisted in both the design and optimisation of materials with promising characteristics for efficient brain-targeting drug delivery, and their in vivo evaluation in zebrafish, an innovative animal model. The constant collaboration with partner institutions specialised in different research fields (such as computational chemistry and cell-based research) allowed me to focus on translational research and to significantly enhance soft skills including multidisciplinary project planning and team working. Moreover, during on-site experiences at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, based in Portugal, and at the biotech company HCS Pharma, based in France, I had the opportunity to acquire experience also in cell culture and nanomaterials' testing on cells and in vitro models.
